The MiG-29 SMT is an upgraded multi-role development of the MiG-29 "Fulcrum," introduced from the late 1990s with a distinctive enlarged spine housing extra fuel and avionics, plus updated radar and weapons capability. The upgrade gave the airframe greater range and a meaningful improvement in strike capability over the baseline Fulcrum. It serves with the Russian Aerospace Forces and several export operators.
