A complete metallic painting system in 20 colours

True Metallic Metal is Vallejo’s dedicated miniature metallic system using real metal particles in an acrylic medium, producing genuine metallic reflectivity rather than a metallic-looking pigment. Each colour family is built around a themed metallic — silver, gold, copper, or a coloured metallic — with four roles: Base (mid-tone starting coat), Shade (darker recess tone), Light (highlight), and Airbrush (pre-thinned for base coating). Apply Base first, wash recesses with Shade, and build up to Light on raised edges. All bottles are 18ml.

The application notes in this guide are written primarily for Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, and fantasy miniature painters — the primary audience for this range. Each colour’s notes call out the specific armies, factions, and figure types it suits best, so you can go straight from the chart to your workbench.

The range covers 20 colours across silver, gold, copper, red, magenta, purple, violet, blue, turquoise, and green metallic tones. Each colour is fully intermixable within and across the range.

Each row represents one colour family. Columns run dark to light — Shade (darkest, recesses), Base (midtone), Airbrush (same tone as Base, pre-thinned for airbrushing), and Light (brightest, raised edges).
