The Cessna 172 first flew in 1955 and is the most-produced aircraft in history, with more than 45,000 built. It’s a four-seat, high-wing aircraft with tricycle landing gear, and its forgiving handling and reliability have made it the world’s favourite training and personal aircraft for nearly 70 years. The Skyhawk name was introduced in 1961 for the deluxe version with upgraded trim and equipment. It later became the name for the whole 172 line. The Skyhawk is powered by a Lycoming flat-four engine of about 150 hp and cruises at around 200 km/h. Flying clubs and flight schools everywhere still fly it, including right here in Canada. This vintage ARII kit from Japan builds a Cessna 172 Skyhawk registered N3405A and comes with a display stand.
