Description
AOS203-200 - Aoshima 1/72 Reppu Mistubishi A7M2 - WWHP111711
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Mitsubishi A7M Reppu (Allied code name "Sam") was designed by Jiro Horikoshi's team as the successor to the Zero, with a laminar-flow wing and the power to match late-war Allied fighters. Engine disputes, the 1944 Tokai earthquake, and B-29 raids on Mitsubishi's plants limited production to a handful of airframes, and the war ended before the type ever reached an operational unit. The A7M2 with the Mitsubishi Ha-43 radial showed performance fully competitive with the Hellcat and Mustang in trials.
This is the 1970s Aoshima "Detailed Aero Series" boxing of their early-1960s tooling, made in Japan. For decades Aoshima was the only mainstream injection-molded source for the Reppu in 1/72, making it a collectible subject for IJN "what-if" and late-war collections.
Box contents:
- Parts molded in plastic with clear canopy
- Waterslide decals for IJN trials markings in dark green, as depicted on the box art
- Assembly instructions
