The Kawasaki Ki-32 was built to a 1936 Imperial Japanese Army requirement for a single-engine light bomber, and although its liquid-cooled Ha-9 V12 gave it better handling than the rival Mitsubishi Ki-30, persistent engine trouble cost it the initial contract. The escalating war in China changed the Army's mind, and Kawasaki went on to build over 840 Ki-32s between 1938 and 1940, which flew extensively over China, at Nomonhan against the Soviets and in the December 1941 raids on Hong Kong. The Allies later gave it the reporting name "Mary", and Amodel's limited edition short-run kit is one of only a handful of injection-moulded Ki-32s in 1/72.
