Nissan's R89C was its Group C challenger for the 1989 World Sports Prototype Championship, and three of the cars were entered in that year's Le Mans 24 Hours. Behind the cockpit sat a 3496cc twin-turbo DOHC V8 rated at around 800 hp, housed in a monocoque built from Kevlar and carbon composites. Tamiya's original issue kit depicts the #23 Le Mans car in Nissan's striking red, white and blue livery.
