Description
AIRA1359 - Airfix 1/35 Tiger I 'Mid Version'
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank deployed from 1942, giving the Wehrmacht its first vehicle mounting the formidable 8.8cm KwK 36 L/56 gun backed by heavy frontal armour. Around 1,347 were built between August 1942 and August 1944, serving in independent heavy tank battalions on all fronts, though the design was heavy, mechanically demanding and expensive to produce. This "Mid Version" captures mid-production features including early rubber-tyred road wheels, a centre-mounted blackout headlight, and the later cupola and mantlet with binocular sight. The kit is Airfix's 2019 reboxing of the Academy tooling.
