Description
A02065 - Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc - PREOWNED10118527
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Spitfire Mk.IX was a stopgap that became one of the most important Spitfires of the war. Supermarine fitted the two-stage supercharged Merlin 61 to the Mk.V airframe so it could match the Focke-Wulf Fw 190, and the result was so successful that more than 5,600 were built. This Airfix kit offers two famous pilots’ aircraft. The first is EN315 “ZX-6,” flown by Polish ace Stanisław Skalski with the Polish Fighting Team, known as “Skalski’s Circus,” in North Africa in 1943. The second is MK392 “JE-J,” the personal Spitfire of Johnnie Johnson while he led the RCAF’s 144 Wing over Normandy in 1944, complete with invasion stripes.
