The Gloster Gladiator was the RAF’s last biplane fighter. It was also its first fighter with an enclosed cockpit, which it combined with four Browning machine guns and a top speed of 257 mph. Monoplanes such as the Hurricane and Spitfire soon outclassed it, but the Gladiator still fought hard in the early years of the Second World War. It served in France, Norway, Malta, North Africa and Greece, where Pat Pattle scored 15 of his victories in one. Finland, Ireland and several other countries also flew it. This Airfix kit was produced with help from the Shuttleworth Collection, whose airworthy Gladiator wears the No. 73 Squadron markings of K7985. This one comes with eight Quickboost resin detail sets made for this kit.
