Description
AIR391 - Airfix 1/72 B.A.C Jaguar - WWWEB10102066
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn
The 1970 first issue of Airfix's original Jaguar, a new tooling that year, in the Type 3 red-stripe box (Pattern No. 391, Series 3). This is the early kit depicting the Jaguar in prototype form, with decals for XW560 (S.06), the first British single-seat prototype flown by Wing Commander Jimmy Dell from Warton in October 1969 — the kit hit shelves while the real aircraft was still in flight test. This boxing ran only from 1970 to 1972 before renumbering, and the tooling was later reworked into the production GR.1, making the original prototype version its own distinct collectible.
The SEPECAT Jaguar was the Anglo-French supersonic strike aircraft developed jointly by BAC and Breguet, which went on to serve the RAF and Armée de l'Air for over three decades and saw combat from the Gulf War to Kosovo.
