One of the most iconic fighter aircraft of the First World War, the Sopwith Camel accounted for more aerial victories than any other Allied type during the conflict. Powered by a rotary engine and armed with twin Vickers machine guns, the Camel was famously demanding to fly — its strong gyroscopic torque made it agile in the right hands but unforgiving for inexperienced pilots.
