The de Havilland Mosquito FB Mk VI was the fighter bomber version and the most numerous of all Mosquito variants, with around 2,500 built. It carried four 20mm cannon and four .303 machine guns in the nose, two 500 lb bombs in a shortened internal bay, and either bombs or 60 lb rockets under the wings, which made it equally suited to low level intruder work and to anti shipping strikes with Coastal Command. Top speed was about 380 mph, and the type stayed in RAF service into the immediate postwar years.
