Description
AIRA06201 - Airfix 1/600 RMS Queen Elizabeth - WWWEB10106701
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
Launched at Clydebank in September 1938, the 83,673-ton Queen Elizabeth was the largest ocean liner ever built at the time. During WWII she served as a troopship, carrying up to 15,000 soldiers per voyage unpainted in wartime grey. From October 1946 she entered Cunard service on the Southampton–Cherbourg–New York express route alongside her sister ship Queen Mary, together dominating North Atlantic passenger travel for two decades before jet air travel made the route uneconomical. She was retired in 1968.
