“I want Little Nellie. Most urgent!” In You Only Live Twice (1967), James Bond sends that signal to Q Branch, and the tiny autogyro arrives in Japan packed in four suitcases, loaded with rockets, machine guns, flamethrowers and aerial mines. Bond flies it over a volcanic crater, where four heavily armed Spectre helicopters attack him. Little Nellie outmanoeuvres them all and shoots them down. The real aircraft was a Wallis WA-116, designed and flown in the film by Wing Commander Ken Wallis. This Airfix kit builds it in 1/24 scale, either as Bond’s armed Little Nellie or as the British Army trials version.
