Description
AIR04018 - Airfix 1/72 Shorts Skyvan - WWWEB10113365
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
The Short SC.7 Skyvan was a British twin-turboprop utility transport built by Short Brothers of Belfast and first flown on 17 January 1963, instantly nicknamed the "Flying Shoebox" for its square, boxcar-like fuselage. That unfashionable shape was the point: a high wing, twin tail, and a large rear cargo door made it a rugged short-field hauler able to operate from rough, unimproved strips that defeated more conventional aircraft. Around 149 were built through 1986, serving short-haul airlines and small air forces, and the type remains a favourite for freight and skydiving work to this day.
Box contents:
- Injection-moulded plastic parts for the Skyvan, including the twin-fin tail and high-mounted wing
- Clear parts for the extensive cockpit and cabin glazing
- Decal sheet with two marking options: Olympic Airways civil scheme (SX-BBN) and a Skyvan 3M of the Sultan of Oman's Air Force
- Printed assembly instructions
- Glue and paint not included; assembly required
