Description
AIR03006-7 - Airfix 1/72 Lockheed Hudson - WWHP111606
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Lockheed Hudson was the first significant production contract awarded to Lockheed, ordered in 1938 by the British Purchasing Commission as a light bomber and coastal patrol aircraft. Derived from the Lockheed Model 14 Super Electra commercial airliner, it entered RAF service in 1939 and became one of Coastal Command's primary assets in the Battle of the Atlantic. The Hudson was the first British aircraft to sink a U-boat by air attack and the first to capture an enemy vessel at sea — U-570 in August 1941. It also served with the RAAF, RNZAF, and USAAF. Airfix first tooled this kit in 1964; the 03006-7 is a mid-1970s rebox of the original tooling with raised surface detail and separate control surfaces characteristic of the era.
