The Sd.Kfz. 222 was the German Army’s standard light reconnaissance armoured car of the Second World War. It served on almost every front from the invasion of Poland in 1939 to the end of the war. It had an angular welded hull and a rear-mounted Horch V8 engine, and it was armed with a 2 cm cannon and an MG 34 machine gun in an open-topped turret. Wire anti-grenade screens covered the turret. Alongside it in this set is the Volkswagen Type 82 Kübelwagen, the military version of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche’s Volkswagen. More than 50,000 were built, and it became the workhorse light vehicle of the German forces. This Airfix set builds both vehicles in 1/72, with crew figures and box art by Roy Cross.

• Grey injection-moulded plastic parts for the Sd.Kfz. 222 armoured car and the Kübelwagen
• Crew figures
• Decals with Balkenkreuz national insignia, “WH” licence plates and vehicle numbers
