Description
AIR02049 - Airfix 1/72 Junkers Ju87B-2 Stuka - WWHP111611
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Junkers Ju 87 Stuka was the Luftwaffe's primary dive bomber during the early years of the Second World War, achieving its most dramatic results during the Blitzkrieg campaigns of 1939–40. The distinctive screaming siren fitted to the fixed undercarriage was as much a psychological weapon as the bombs it carried. The B-2 was the main production variant, equipped with a more powerful Jumo 211Da engine, and served on all major fronts from Poland and France through to North Africa and the Eastern Front. The type's vulnerability to modern fighters, brutally exposed in the Battle of Britain, led to its withdrawal from Western European operations in favour of the Eastern and Mediterranean theatres.
