Kalitta Air was founded by Conrad “Connie” Kalitta, the drag-racing legend known as “The Bounty Hunter”, and grew from his earlier air freight businesses. It’s based at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and became one of the largest Boeing 747 cargo operators in the world, flying charter freight and military logistics missions worldwide. The Boeing 747-200F was the backbone of its fleet for many years. Its nose cargo door swung upward so that oversized freight could be loaded straight into the main deck. This Aero Le Plane model depicts a Kalitta Air 747-200F in the airline’s white livery with its red and gold cheatline, striped tail and winged “Kalitta Air” titles.
