ACA1653 - Academy 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf109G-14 - PREOWNED10116992
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Messerschmitt Bf 109G-14 was introduced in mid-1944 as an attempt to standardize the many field modifications that had built up on the G-6. It had the Erla Haube clear-view canopy, a tall wooden tail on many aircraft, and a Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine with MW 50 water-methanol boost for extra power at low altitude. It was armed with a 20 mm MG 151 cannon firing through the propeller hub and two 13 mm MG 131 machine guns above the engine. The G-14 fought on both the Eastern and Western Fronts through the last year of the war. Many survived the war, and some later served in Czechoslovakia and other air forces. This Academy kit builds a G-14 in the black tulip nose and chevron markings associated with JG 52, the unit of Erich Hartmann, the highest-scoring fighter ace in history.
