Tirpitz was the second and final Bismarck-class battleship of the Kriegsmarine, commissioned in February 1941. Though she rarely engaged Allied surface forces directly, her presence in Norwegian fjords tied down significant British naval resources throughout the war in a strategic role sometimes called the "fleet in being." She survived multiple British air and midget submarine attacks before being sunk by RAF Lancaster bombers using Tallboy bombs at Tromsø in November 1944. This Academy kit is a 2015 rebox of the original 1989 static tooling.
