12284 - Academy - 1/48 T-33A Shooting Star - WWHP112530
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Lockheed T-33A was built by lengthening the F-80 fighter's fuselage by 38 inches and adding a second seat under an extended canopy, creating America's first jet trainer. It entered service in 1948 and 5,691 were built before production ended in 1959, with additional aircraft assembled in Canada and Japan. Generations of Air Force pilots learned basic fighter manoeuvring, air combat tactics and low level flight in the T-Bird, and the type also flew reconnaissance, drone control and even combat missions in some air forces. More than twenty countries operated it, some for nearly forty years.
