Description
32035 - Wingnut Wings 1/32 AMC DH.9 - WWHP113733
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Airco DH.9, built by the Aircraft Manufacturing Company, was planned as a longer-range successor to the excellent DH.4 day bomber. The pilot sat further back, closer to the gunner, and the new BHP engine was supposed to give 300 hp. In mass production as the Siddeley-Deasy Puma, it rarely made more than 230 hp and was badly unreliable, so the DH.9 performed worse than the DH.4 it was meant to replace. Even so, about 3,900 were built. They flew bombing raids over the Western Front, Palestine and Macedonia, and after the war the type served with air forces and civil operators around the world.
