The Takom 1010 1/16 Pz.Kpfw. I Ausf. B (Discontinued) is a large-scale, highly detailed plastic model kit of Germany’s early WWII Panzerkampfwagen I Ausf. B light tank, representing one of the most important training and early combat vehicles used by the Wehrmacht during the mid-1930s and early stages of the war.
Originally developed as a training tank due to restrictions imposed after WWI, the Panzer I was never intended for frontline combat. However, shortages of more advanced armored vehicles meant it saw operational service in conflicts such as the Spanish Civil War and the early Blitzkrieg campaigns, including the invasion of Poland in 1939. The Ausf. B variant improved on the earlier A version with a more powerful Maybach engine, extended hull, and revised suspension with an additional road wheel for better mobility.
Takom’s 1/16 release is a museum-grade style kit, offering exceptional surface detail and a highly engaging build experience due to its large size and functional engineering features. Although now discontinued, it remains a sought-after kit among large-scale armor collectors and advanced modelers.
