The Churchill Crocodile was the British Army's flamethrower tank, a conversion of the Churchill Mk VII that replaced the hull machine gun with a flame projector fed from an armoured trailer carrying fuel and pressurised nitrogen. It kept the Mk VII's 75mm gun, so it could still fight as a normal tank, and its flame reached out to around 80 metres. About 800 were built, serving with Hobart's 79th Armoured Division and in support of British, Commonwealth, and American units from Normandy onward.
