The Porsche 962C was the dominant Group C sports-prototype of the mid-to-late 1980s, evolved from the 956 to meet IMSA's safety regulations and later adapted for FIA Group C competition. Powered by a Porsche 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six, the 962 remained competitive well beyond its factory campaign through privateer teams. Joest Racing was among the most successful private 962 operations, campaigning the car in the World Sportscar Championship with Blaupunkt sponsorship throughout 1989 with drivers including Bob Wollek and Hans-Joachim Stuck. This is a "new decals" rebox of Tamiya's 962C tooling (originally released as kit 2101 in 1986, updated with new parts as 24089 in 1989), issued in 1990 with decals specifically for the 1989 WSPC Joest Blaupunkt livery.
