The McLaren MP4/4 is one of the most dominant Formula 1 cars in history, winning 15 of 16 races in the 1988 season and delivering Honda and McLaren both championships. Designed by Gordon Murray and Steve Nichols, the car was powered by Honda's RA168E 1.5-litre turbocharged V6, producing in excess of 650 bhp in race trim. Ayrton Senna took the Drivers' Championship in #12, with Alain Prost finishing second in #11. Original new-tool release from Tamiya, first issued in 1989; kit #22 in the 1/20 Grand Prix Collection.
