The Super VC10 K3 began life as one of five airliners built for East African Airways, converted by British Aerospace in the early 1980s into three-point aerial refuelling tankers for the RAF with wing-mounted hose pods, a fuselage hose drum unit and extra fuel tanks in the cabin. Flown by No. 101 Squadron from RAF Brize Norton, the K3s supported operations from the Gulf War onward until the VC10 fleet was retired in 2013. Roden's 2016 kit adds the tanker-specific parts to their well-regarded 1/144 Super VC10 tooling.
