The Vickers VC10 was Britain's answer to hot and high airfields on the African and Asian routes, a rear-engined long-range jet with a clean wing that could get off short, warm runways the Boeing 707 struggled with. The stretched Super VC10 Type 1151 added just over 13 feet of fuselage, uprated Conway engines, and a fin fuel tank, entering BOAC service in May 1964. Passengers loved the quiet forward cabin, and BOAC leaned into it with advertising lines like "Swift and Silent." This Roden kit is a 2016 new tool in 1/144 scale, finely scribed and moulded in grey and clear styrene, representing G-ASGI in BOAC colours of the late 1960s.
