Description

ROD054 - Roden 1/72 Sopwith F.1 Camel - WWHP111455

Preowned, Resealed, Mint

The Sopwith Camel was the RFC and RNAS's most capable fighter of the First World War, but its powerful rotary engine and sensitive handling made it notoriously difficult for inexperienced pilots. To address the resulting accident rate, a small number of F.1 Camels were converted to two-seat dual-control trainers from 1917, with the front cockpit replacing the gun armament and the rear fuselage extended to accommodate a second seat for the instructor. These conversions were used at various training depots in Britain through to the end of the war. Roden released this variant in 2006 as part of their extensive Camel family, sharing the same core tooling as kits 040–053.
