Patrick Racing was one of the most established teams in American open-wheel racing, fielding CART Championship cars through the 1990s with Visteon as a primary sponsor in the series' final competitive years. Scott Pruett's best championship season with Patrick Racing came in 1998, where he finished sixth in points with three podium finishes and one pole position. The Reynard chassis was the dominant constructor in CART through this era, and the dark grey and orange Visteon livery was among the more distinctive on the grid.
