The T-80B was a Soviet main battle tank, part of the T-80 family notable for being the first Soviet tank powered by a gas turbine engine, giving it exceptional speed and mobility. Introduced in 1978, the T-80B added improved composite armour and the ability to fire guided missiles through its 125mm smoothbore gun. The type served as one of the Soviet Army's frontline tanks through the 1980s and remains in use with several successor states.
