The McLaren M26 was Gordon Coppuck’s successor to the M23, the car that took James Hunt to the 1976 World Championship. Powered by the Ford Cosworth DFV V8, the M26 had a lower, slimmer monocoque and a wedge-shaped nose. It made its race debut in 1976 and became the team’s main car in 1977, when Hunt drove it to wins at the British, United States and Japanese Grands Prix. He raced it again in 1978 as car #7 in the famous red and white Marlboro livery. Nitto Kagaku’s 1/28 kit captures the era in toy form, with a built-in electric motor and a wired line control unit for driving the finished car across the floor.

• White plastic sprues for the body, nose, wings and driver’s helmet, plus a separate one-piece body shell
• Silver-grey sprues with the DFV engine, suspension, exhaust, roll bar, chassis tub and wheels
• Clear windscreen
• FA-130 electric motor and a bagged line control (wired remote) unit with cord and battery connectors
• Small tube of cement included (Not insured it will be useable)
• Decal sheet for James Hunt’s #7, with Marlboro, Texaco, Goodyear, Champion and Koni markings and “James Hunt” name plates
• Japanese and English instruction sheet with wiring and assembly diagrams
