United ordered the 737-200 off the drawing board and became the type's launch customer for the stretched version, flying it on short haul routes from the late 1960s. The scheme here is the Saul Bass design of 1974, red, orange and blue with the tulip on the fin, one of the most recognizable American liveries of the era and long gone from the fleet.
