The eighth-generation Ford F-Series, introduced for 1987 and running through 1991, was the best-selling vehicle in the United States throughout its production run. The F-250 represented the heavy-duty end of the lineup, built around a heavier chassis, stronger axles, and a higher payload rating than the half-ton F-150. The extended cab — Ford's Super Cab — added a small rear seating area behind the main cab and was particularly popular with buyers wanting the utility of a full-size long-bed truck with greater passenger capacity.
