The Ford Mustang GTP was Ford's factory-backed entry in IMSA's premier GTP class in the early 1980s, wearing the #06 Ford Motorsport / Motorcraft livery. Despite the Mustang nameplate, the car was a purpose-built mid-engined prototype developed with Zakspeed, bearing no mechanical relationship to the production pony car -- the familiar name was used purely for marketing purposes. The car competed at circuits including Road America and represented Ford's effort to generate motorsport credibility during the IMSA GT Championship's most competitive era.

This Monogram kit is a new-tool release from 1985, capturing the #06 Motorcraft machine in its distinctive dark blue and white colour scheme.
