MNC530731831 - Minichamps 1/18 McLaren Ford M23 Yardley German GP J. Ickx 1973
The McLaren M23 was designed by Gordon Coppuck and made its debut in 1973. It had a wedge-shaped body, side-mounted radiators and the Ford Cosworth DFV V8. It became one of the most successful Formula 1 cars of the decade, and won World Championships with Emerson Fittipaldi in 1974 and James Hunt in 1976. At the 1973 German Grand Prix on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Jacky Ickx had just left Ferrari. McLaren entered a third car for him, the white and orange Yardley M23 #30. Ickx qualified fourth and finished third in his one-off drive, behind the two Tyrrells of Jackie Stewart and François Cevert. This Minichamps replica captures that one-off appearance in fine detail.
