MCLua72077 - Model Collect - 1/72 USA 983 Hemtt Tractor with Pershing II Missle Erector Launcher
The Pershing II was the US Army's answer to the Soviet SS-20, deployed to West Germany from 1983 alongside the Gryphon GLCM. Its terminally guided manoeuvrable warhead gave it accuracy no previous theatre ballistic missile could match, and the short flight time to Soviet targets made it one of the most contentious weapons of the late Cold War. The missile rode on an Erector Launcher towed by the M983 HEMTT 8x8 tractor. All Pershing IIs were eliminated under the INF Treaty by 1991.
