The Handley Page Halifax was Bomber Command's other heavy, second only to the Lancaster in numbers and the aircraft that equipped most of the RCAF's 6 Group squadrons, so a great many Canadian crews went to war in one. The early B Mk I and Mk II carried Merlin engines and the original stepped nose, until the Series IA cleaned things up with a moulded perspex nose and a low drag dorsal turret. Coastal Command took the same airframe as the GR.II for long range maritime patrol, painted in white and grey rather than night black, which is the aircraft on the box art. This is Matchbox's 1970s tooling, moulded in their trademark multi coloured plastic.
