Description
MATPK-33 - Matchbox 1/72 SAAB J-29F - WWHP111722
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
The SAAB J-29 Tunnan ("Barrel") was Sweden's first swept-wing jet fighter, entering service in 1951 and remaining competitive well into the 1960s. Developed independently by SAAB with a distinctive barrel-shaped fuselage housing the de Havilland Ghost engine, it outperformed many contemporary Western designs and saw combat service with the UN Operation in the Congo in 1961–62. Austria was the sole export operator, acquiring surplus Swedish aircraft for its Jagdbomberstaffel units in the early 1960s.
A vintage Matchbox kit from the classic PK series, originally released 1978.
