PK-127 - Matchbox 1/72 Twin Otter - WWHP119521
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter is a Canadian twin-engine STOL utility aircraft that first flew in 1965, designed to serve remote communities where short or unprepared strips — or open water — are the only option. Its fixed tricycle undercarriage, exceptional short-field performance, and ability to be fitted with wheels, skis, or floats made it a natural choice for operators from Arctic Canada to the Channel Islands. Total production of 844 aircraft ran to 1988, with Viking Air restarting manufacture in 2008. The Royal Canadian Air Force operated the type as the CC-138 for search and rescue.
Original 1983 tooling; one of the last new tools in the Matchbox range. Folding side-opening box.
Box contents:
- 91 plastic parts across 4 sprues: white (wings), grey (fuselage), black (undercarriage), clear (windows)
- Optional baggage nose or standard nose
- Undercarriage options: wheeled tricycle gear, skis, or floats (with additional horizontal stabilizer fins for float configuration)
- Waterslide decal sheet — 2 marking options:
- 440 Squadron, Canadian Armed Forces, CC-138 809/13809, CFB Edmonton, AB, 1981 — yellow/red SAR scheme (ski option available)
- Aurigny Air Services, G-BIMW, Alderney Airport, Channel Islands, 1982 — yellow/red civil scheme
