The Dornier Do 28 D Skyservant was a rugged twin-engined utility aircraft, unmistakable for the way its engines and main undercarriage were hung on stub pylons either side of the fuselage, leaving the cabin completely unobstructed. It could take off and land from short rough strips, which made it useful anywhere from Bundeswehr liaison work to bush operations in Africa. Around 270 were built from 1966, with the Luftwaffe and Marineflieger operating the type for decades on transport, training and pollution patrol duties.
