The Mitsubishi L3M1 (Navy Type 96 Transport) was a twin-engine monoplane transport operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy from 1936, developed from the Fokker Super Universal via licence. The aircraft earned lasting fame through the Nippon-Go — a specially prepared L3M1 registered J-BACI that completed a remarkable round-the-world flight in 1939–40 as part of a goodwill tour, covering approximately 52,860 km. Other named examples (Matukaze, Yamato) also flew notable long-distance routes for the IJN. The type saw service as a utility transport and VIP aircraft before and during the Pacific War. LS Models (LS Co., Ltd.) was a Japanese manufacturer that produced a range of obscure and uniquely Japanese aviation subjects in the 1960s–70s not covered by mainstream manufacturers.
