The Mole is International Rescue's tunnelling vehicle, deployed from Thunderbird 2's pod to reach survivors trapped underground. It bores through rock using a rotating drill head, with heat-imaging sensors to locate buried casualties, before retracing its tunnel to the surface for recovery. The Excavator (also known as the Jet Mogura in Japanese releases) is a complementary digging machine from the Thunderbirds vehicle fleet, used for heavy earthmoving rescue operations.

The B-2081 is the second in Imai's 1992 Rescue Set series: B-2080 paired Thunderbird 2 with the Recovery Vehicle; B-2082 paired Thunderbird 4 with the Firefly. No scale is stated — these are toy-oriented construction kits produced for the Japanese market.
