The Hitachi ASTACO NEO is a purpose-built dual-arm demolition and disaster recovery machine developed by Hitachi Construction Machinery. Unlike conventional single-arm excavators, the ASTACO NEO's two independently operated arms allow it to grip, bend, cut, and manipulate materials simultaneously — capabilities that make it especially suited for building demolition, disaster debris clearance, and precision deconstruction work. It gained international attention following deployment in the aftermath of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. It is the only dual-arm working machine of its type in production.
