The Ram Kangaroo was a Canadian armoured personnel carrier created by removing the turret from the Ram tank, developed as a field expedient to carry infantry under armour alongside advancing tanks. It proved so effective that other Commonwealth forces adopted it, and it pointed the way to the dedicated APCs that followed the war. Late-production Canadian vehicles carried a hull machine gun in place of the auxiliary turret fitted to some earlier and British examples.
