The Canadair CL-44 grew out of the Bristol Britannia, re licensed and re engined with Rolls Royce Tyne turboprops, and it earned its place in history with a swing tail that let the entire rear fuselage pivot open for straight in freight loading. The CL-44J was a further stretch of just over four metres, four of which were built for Icelandic carrier Loftleiðir as high capacity passenger aircraft on low fare transatlantic services. They later passed into the cargo world, and Aer Turas Teoranta of Dublin flew EI-BGO on charter freight work through the 1980s in a clean silver scheme with green and yellow cheatlines. F-RSIN's kit is a short run injection moulded model aimed squarely at the airliner enthusiast.
