The Challenger began life as Bill Lear's LearStar 600 concept, which Canadair bought in 1976 and developed into a wide-cabin business jet built in Montreal, with the prototype flying in November 1978. The CL 604 was the big step forward for the family, adding CF34 engines, extra fuel, strengthened landing gear and a Collins Pro Line 4 glass cockpit, and entered service in January 1996. It became the most successful Challenger of its generation, flying with corporations, governments and air ambulance operators such as Switzerland's Rega, making this Revell kit a nice Canadian-built subject for any airliner shelf.
