Canadair's CL-44 began as a licence development of the Bristol Britannia, redesigned in Montreal with Rolls-Royce Tyne turboprops and a swing-tail rear fuselage that hinged open for straight-in cargo loading. Flying Tiger Line, the American all-cargo carrier founded in 1945 by veterans of the AVG, was launch customer for the CL-44D-4 in 1961 and worked the type hard on trans-Pacific freight and military charter runs. This is F-RSIN Plastic's 1/144 injection moulded kit, a short-run release aimed at the experienced airliner modeller and one of the very few plastic kits of the type ever produced.
