The British Aerospace Harrier GR.5 was the RAF's first "second-generation" Harrier, the British equivalent of the McDonnell Douglas/BAe AV-8B Harrier II, with a larger composite supercritical wing, raised cockpit for better visibility, and leading-edge root extensions giving far greater payload and range than the original GR.3. It entered RAF service in the late 1980s as a battlefield close-support and reconnaissance aircraft and formed the basis of the later GR.7 and GR.9. This is ESCI/ERTL's 1989 GR.5 boxing, a parts-updated version of their AV-8B Harrier II tooling.
